About Us
BT in Ireland

BT in Ireland
BT operates across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland as an all island operation, headquartered in Belfast and Dublin, and employing close to 3,000 people.
In Northern Ireland BT is the leading communications provider to consumers and small and medium businesses (SMEs). We are also the leading networked IT services partner of government and major customers and are responsible for providing regulated wholesale access via Openreach.
In the Republic of Ireland we are a leading provider of networked IT services to government and major businesses. We are also a leader in the provision of wholesale network services, working with key customers such as 3 for whom we build and manage their 3G network.
Our networked IT services team alone includes more than 500 IT specialists who work with our all island client base including the NI and ROI governments, Bank of Ireland, EMC, Grafton, Airtricity, Bank of Scotland (Ireland), Bristol Myers Squibb, and Ryanair. We have gold partner certifications with leading brands such as Cisco, HP, SAP, Oracle, Avaya and Nortel, and are the largest IT training company on the island.
We continue to invest significantly in network infrastructure North and South. Northern Ireland has one of the most advanced communications infrastructures in the world and was the first region outside London to achieve 100% broadband availability, following a partnership with the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and EU programme for Prosperity. Our international access from and to the island links our customers directly to 120 countries and 250 cities worldwide. We are also currently building an end to end IP network on the island as part of our multi-billion pound 21st century network programme.
We are very much a part of the social fabric of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The special nature of our business - helping people to communicate better- drives our approach to corporate responsibility on the island and sets a clear vision for how we can continue the transformation of our business in a way that benefits BT, our customers, society and the environment. It is firmly rooted in the belief that the sustainability agenda creates real business opportunities. You can read more about our strategy and programme under the Corporate Responsibility link on this site.
Our approach is straightforward — everything we do is dedicated to helping our customers thrive in a rapidly changing world. Our priority is clear — customer satisfaction is our number one goal and will ensure our long term success on the island of Ireland.
