BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, now in its 51st year, is a powerful, grassroots initiative across the island of Ireland to raise schools’ engagement in the critical subjects of science, technology, engineering and maths. This all island exhibition, which has been organised and sponsored by BT for the past 14 years, provides a platform for our young scientists and technologists to come together to investigate theories, discover new technologies and advance current knowledge through innovation.
Continued focus is needed on developing as a knowledge economy. We believe that our investment in, and commitment to, this exhibition encourages schools throughout the island to have a passion and interest in those very skills that will help Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland advance and thrive.
The success of the event endorses our investment and commitment. A record number of projects were entered this year from across the island and previous winners have gone on to enjoy success at a European level at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists.
As organiser, BT has created an extensive eco-system that brings together key players in the public and private sector to nurture skills in STEM, commercialisation, critical thinking, and innovation in order to help Ireland, north and south, become more sustainable. There are a number of people and organisations that BT works with every year to make this event the success that it is — the Departments of Education North and South, the judges, our co-sponsors and exhibitors and of course the students themselves.
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition is held in Dublin every January.
Over the years the exhibition has proven to be an important launch pad for the next wave of entrepreneurs, academics, scientists and technologists; people who will be fundamental in addressing the global skills shortage. For that reason, we cannot underestimate the importance of this exhibition in encouraging our young students to pursue careers in science and technology”. Colm O’Neill , CEO, BT Ireland
