BT Sport announces more live Scottish football matches
August 7th 2013
BT Sport will exclusively show live coverage of three more Scottish Premiership matches featuring the current champions Celtic as part of 10 new matches scheduled before December, it was announced today.
BT Sport will screen Heart of Midlothian v Celtic on Saturday, September 14, kick off 12.30pm, Hibernian v Celtic on a date to be confirmed, as well as Ross County v Celtic on Saturday, November 9, kick off 12.45pm. In addition, BT Sport has already revealed that it will show Aberdeen v Celtic exclusively live on Saturday, August 17.
There will also be exclusively live coverage of two more Rangers games in Scottish League One. They are the home game against Dunfermline on Saturday, October 12, kick off 5.30pm and Arbroath v Rangers on Monday, November 25, kick off 7.45pm. BT Sport will also show exclusively live coverage of Rangers v Brechin City on Saturday, August 10 and Airdrieonians v Rangers on Friday, August 23.
The games feature in a new list of 10 games from the Scottish Professional Football League that will be shown exclusively live on BT Sport. The channels will show a total of 30 exclusively live matches from the SPFL and a further ten Rangers games exclusively live during the season.
Simon Green, director of BT Sport, said: “Celtic are already back to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership and BT Sport viewers will be able to closely monitor their season as it develops, with four exclusively live matches.
The away match against Hearts will be a really engrossing game. Celtic will be looking to secure three points against a club already docked 15 points and needing to raise their game to take on the current champions.
We will also be following Rangers journey back up the Scottish Professional Football League and we’ll have shown four live matches involving the Gers by December.”
BT Sport’s coverage of the SPFL will be presented by Darrell Currie, the popular Scottish football journalist and reporter. Gary McAllister, the former Scotland captain, Motherwell, Leeds United and Liverpool midfielder will feature as BT Sport co-commentator, bringing insight and analysis from a career during which he won honours including the old English First Division, UEFA Cup and the FA Cup, plus captaining Scotland at UEFA Euro 96. Respected commentator Derek Rae will be lead commentator. Former Motherwell player Stephen Craigan will be a football analyst and Emma Dodds will be pitchside reporter.
