David Ginola joins BT Sport
August 8th 2013
Flamboyant ex-France, Newcastle Unitedand Tottenham Hotspur winger David Ginola is to join the BT Sport football team.

Ginola, 46, who won 17 caps for France, will co-present and be a football expert across the channels’ live football coverage, including the Barclays Premier League, FA Cup with Budweiser and European football, particularly French Ligue 1.
The skilful wideman played ten seasons in France before his transfer to Newcastle United from Paris Saint-Germain in 1995. Over the next seven seasons, he played 58 games for Newcastle and 100 games for Tottenham, before ending his career with spells at Aston Villa and Everton.
Ginola’s experience will bolster BT Sport’s roster of football experts, including ex-England stars Michael Owen, David James, Steve McManaman and Owen Hargreaves.
Since retiring, he has worked extensively as a football pundit, notably for the BBC, CNN and Al Jazeera. Last season, he was the lead football consultant for Orange’s coverage in France of Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
Simon Green, director of BT Sport, said:
We are really delighted to have secured David Ginola to be one of our football experts. Every football fan knows that David was one of the most talented players in Premier League history and he has proved to be one of the most accomplished broadcasters since hanging up his boots. We expect David to provide a combination of flair and insight in his role with BT Sport and he adds a certain style to any programme.”
David Ginola said:
I am incredibly happy to be joining BT and to be part of the fantastic line-up from the start. I trust that the viewers and sportsfans are as excited as I am about this new channel which promises a different approach to sports broadcasting."
BT Sport will show 38 exclusively live football matches from the Barclays Premier League, including 18 of the ‘top picks’ for the next three seasons. The channels will also show live FA Cup with Budweiser matches for the next five seasons, UEFA Europa League, top tier football from Germany, Italy, France, Brazil, Australia and the USA, plus action from the FA Women’s Super League and 30 live matches from the Football Conference.
