BT reveals latest Scottish matches to be shown on BT Sport
October 28th 2013
December promises to be a bumper month for Scottish football fans with plenty of festive cheer on BT Sport. The four top teams at present in the Scottish Premiership - Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Motherwell – will all feature whilst Rangers in Scottish League One will hope to continue their progress in that league.
Over the season, BT Sport will bring fans 30 live matches from the Scottish Premiership with ten Rangers games from Scottish League One, in addition to weekly highlights and discussion in its SPFL Review show on Tuesday evenings.
BT Sport will show five live Scottish football matches between the beginning of December and the start of January. They are (kick off times listed):
- Friday December 6 - Motherwell v Celtic at 7.45pm
- Saturday December 14 - Stenhousemuir v Rangers at 5.30pm
- Saturday December 21 - Inverness CT v Aberdeen at 5.30pm
- Sunday December 29 - Inverness CT v Celtic at 12.30pm
- Thursday January 2 - Airdrieonians v Rangers at 5.30pm
BT Sport will showcase three clashes between the top four teams with league leaders Celtic facing tough away matches at both Inverness CT and Motherwell. Inverness CT will be particularly keen to gain revenge having been denied a famous win at Celtic Park earlier this season when Adam Matthews equalised for Celtic in the 82nd minute.
Terry Butcher’s men also face a stern test when they play Aberdeen at home on December 21. The match at Pittodrie was a closely fought one back in September with Aberdeen winning thanks to a solo goal from striker Scott Vernon. Another tight match is likely between the Highland team and Derek McInnes’ resurgent Dons.
Outside the Scottish Premiership, BT Sport will be showing two live matches featuring League One leaders Rangers. Both Stenhousemuir and Airdrieonians will be nervous hosts given Rangers put eight goals past the former and six the latter in matches earlier this season conceding none in reply. However, with home advantage and buoyed-up crowds looking for a famous scalp, Rangers will need to be on their guard.
Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said:
We have some Christmas crackers lined up for Scottish football fans with tough matches for Celtic, Aberdeen, Inverness and Motherwell. This season has been one of the most open for a long time thanks to the exploits of those sides.”
