BT Sport deploys Gareth Bale upfront in new marketing campaign.
June 30th 2014
Adverts to highlight BT Sport’s depth of European football coverage.

BT is to boost its current marketing campaign with new print and TV advertisements featuring Gareth Bale, one of the world’s greatest footballers.
The latest stage of BT Sport’s second season campaign focuses on the fact that BT Sport shows live matches from more top flight football leagues than any other TV provider in the UK and reminds fans that BT Sport will be the exclusive UK home for live coverage from the best European club cup competitions from August 2015.
The new TV adverts, which will first be shown this weekend during the World Cup knock out rounds, will feature Bale talking about the importance of making the right decisions. He will refer to the choices he made when moving clubs before Jake Humphrey’s voiceover explains that fans should take BT’s new European football rights from August 2015 into account when deciding who to sign up with for their broadband.
The new print adverts featuring Bale will carry the same message with the straplines 'The European goalposts are moving' and ‘Football is all about making the right decisions’.
BT is already the UK home of Germany's Bundesliga, Italy's Serie A and France's Ligue 1. This means customers will be able to continue watching many of the stars who have lit up the World Cup when they return to domestic action. These include Thomas Muller of Bayern Munich, Andrea Pirlo of Juventus and Thiago Silva of Paris St Germain.
BT Sport customers will also be able to watch players such as Brasil’s Fred who plays for Fluminense, Clint Dempsey of Seattle Sounders and Tim Cahill of New York Red Bulls when they return to play in their domestic leagues in Brazil and the USA.
John Petter, BT Consumer CEO said:
BT Sport is the home of European football and we are delighted to work with Gareth to reinforce this message. He is one of the world's greatest players and having helped Real Madrid win the UEFA Champions League final this season, he knows what he is talking about. BT Sport already shows live action from Germany, France and Italy as well as live football from the Barclays Premier League, the FA Cup, and the top leagues in Brazil, Scotland, Australia and the USA. No one else comes close to our range of live top tier league football, whatever their marketing may claim, and we will be in a class of our own when we become the exclusive UK home of the world’s greatest club cup tournament."
