BT Scores a hat trick of awards

BT Ireland has scooped three prestigious awards for excellence in the fields of innovation, sales and marketing.

In London last week, BT and Huawei won the ‘Fixed Network Infrastructure Innovation’ award at the Global Telecom Business Awards for its project titled ‘Growing core capacity to match access demand’. The award recognised BT Ireland and BT Technology Services Operation (TSO) for their work on a 3 Terabit world-record setting trial, and the subsequent trial and application of that technology on its Belfast-Dublin network. This innovative project effectively proved the capability of BT’s global network to support future demands for bandwidth by customers.

In presenting the Awards, Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business, commented: “This is the ninth time we’ve run our Innovation Awards and each year we’ve seen that the industry is working harder and harder to deliver exciting and innovative services to its customers worldwide. Congratulations to BT and Huawei and all the award winners.

“This year we have seen a wave of nominations for projects to extend services to millions of unconnected people, to deliver fixed and wireless broadband at faster and faster speeds, to develop new services — from connected cars to 4G roaming — and drive demand for better quality services”.

Cisco Global Recognition
At the recent Cisco Global Partner Conference in Montreal, BT Ireland became the first Irish partner and one of only three partners globally to receive a Special Commendation award in recognition of its successes in the Cisco business in the previous year. In particular, BT Ireland was called out for exceptional and sustained revenue growth, winning Gold partner of the year for three consecutive years and for its successful launch of a Cisco powered ‘Infrastructure as a Service’ offering in its Irish data centres.

An Post Smart Marketing Awards
Finally, the BT Ireland marketing team picked up two gold awards and a silver award at the An Post Smart Marketing Awards last week in Dublin, recognising the successful launch of its BT Cloud Contact offering. The ‘chameleon’ marketing campaign illustrated how BT Ireland can help its customers connect more effectively with their customers over a range of digital channels with the aim of providing an improved customer experience.

Shay Walsh, MD of Business, BT Ireland said, “To be recognised at both local and international level by the industry is a huge achievement, and illustrates BT Ireland’s consistent pursuit of excellence in what we deliver for our customers and how we continue to innovate and market new technologies. We have an excellent local team here who is successfully helping Ireland’s global multi-national businesses connect their operations across the world and these awards serve to verify that.”

BT Ireland employs more than 1,750 people on the island of Ireland. The company recently published its full year financial results to 31st March 2015, reporting a 2% increase in revenue to £635 million year on year excluding transit revenue and the impact of foreign exchange movements.  Profit* was up 4% year on year.
